MSU accounting interns are in demand more than ever, with employers having ramped up efforts to recruit them this year.

“We have a history of working with the School and always want to have interns from Mississippi State,” states Lynne Godfrey, Director of Human Resources for Matthews, Cutrer and Lindsay, P.A. “We’ve been pleased with the students we’ve had – they bring a strong knowledge base and do a good job. Often, we invite them to join us full time after they graduate.”

Employers such as EY, FedEx and Matthews, Cutrer and Lindsay set up tables in McCool where they could talk with students between classes.

Matthews, Cutrer and Lindsay is one of the firms that has expanded recruiting efforts. In addition to participating in ASAC’s annual August Career Fair and fall interview process as usual, this year they handed out fall exam care packages and were among employers that had a day in which they hosted a table in McCool Hall to meet with students between classes. They have volunteered with the MSU Career Center to help students with their resumés and anticipate holding an evening social hour in Starkville later this spring.

The recruiting efforts by Matthews, Cutrer and Lindsay and other companies have resulted in a new record number of spring and summer internships awarded to ASAC students, and their geographic diversity is broader than ever.
