Accounting freshmen Emma Diamond (left) and Catherine Babb (right) were named MSU Presidential Scholars. The recognition, awarded to students in the Shackouls Honors College, is the University’s most prestigious scholarship.

Our summer Accelerating Students into the Accounting Profession Camp, endowed by Don & Peggy Whitmire, brought 15 rising high school seniors to campus in July for several days of activities to develop their interest in accounting and introduce the career options associated with it. Five of our ASAC students served as counselors. Three ASAC students were named 2024-2025 Public Company Accounting Oversight Board Scholars. They are (from left) Maya Jones, Leo Maldonado and Morgan Mounce. The program’s goals are to benefit outstanding students who are likely to become auditors and to make a difference to eligible students who might otherwise choose a different career path. Scholarships were increased this year from $10,000 to $15,000.

ASAC Instructor Angela Pannell was appointed to the 2024-2025 Continuing Professional Education Committee of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.
