News from the Richard C. Adkerson School of Accountancy

Faculty Changes

We are pleased to announce the addition of two faculty members.

Dr. Casey Camors
Dr. Casey Camors joined us this fall.  Camors comes to us from Texas Tech University where she received her PhD in Accounting.  Her undergraduate degree is from Oregon State.  In addition to her teaching experience, Camors has practical experience having worked as a City Finance Director and as a Senior Accountant at two accounting firms.  Camors’ research interest is primarily related to regulatory systems including audit, state and local government and not-for-profit accounting and auditing.  She also does research in the areas of corporate governance and accounting in the new cannabis industry.  She is teaching Intermediate Accounting I.

Dr. Duke Ferguson
Dr. Duke Ferguson will come on board in January.  Ferguson received his PhD in Management (Accounting) from Purdue University.  He completed his BA degree at Transylvania University in Lexington, KY, graduating magna cum laude.  Ferguson’s professional experience includes not only teaching but also accounting work for several corporations.  His research interest is taxation, primarily focused on tax policy, tax enforcement and the interaction between taxpayers and the IRS.  Ferguson will be teaching Intermediate Accounting II.

While we are excited about our new faculty, we are also sad to see two of our stalwart professors retire. Associate Professor Dr. Noel Addy and Associate Clinical Professor Dr. Clyde Herring each depart having served the Adkerson School of Accountancy for 29 years. The impact of their wisdom, accounting knowledge and interest in students has been far reaching. We have the deepest appreciation for what they have contributed and wish them the very best in their retirements.
